Pros

no contract or any other benefits you get rather than your salary no clear evaluation process for employees and therefore you might be disqualified by a manager behind the scenes and you won't know until you out

Pros

I have worked for about 10 years at local companies before joining Crossover. After 5 months, I can share the pros and cons of working here: - You don't spend any time commuting. For most of the local jobs I needed 8h + 1h lunch break + 2h commute. This means 11h/day spent with the job. Here I need just 8h. - It was hard to be productive all the time because of noise, personal issues of everyone, meetings, unnecessary interruptions and discussions. With crossover you can be fully productive for 8 hours. You can make your environment distraction-free. No unnecessary meetings. You are less tired. - You can do 40 hours anytime you want as long as you are available at the few meetings we have. - Overtime is paid extra if requested by the direct manager. - Great people to work with. - Better communication and synchronisation than at any local company I have worked with. We have people in the entire world and I never waited for more than a few hours for a reply. Usually, I get the reply immediately. - Software Engineering Managers with good technical background. - WorkSmart helps set the limit between work and personal life. - Very good documentation for tasks and projects. - In some cities the local community has a hub and other facilities. Members make working for Crossover feel less virtual.

Cons

- No paid vacation. Employees are less likely to take vacations, and this is not good for long-term productivity and stress management. - Projects are old, processes are not in place (at least at some clients). The good news is that everyone is working on improving them. - Not too many architecture/design tasks. - Projects may change very often. I like changing projects, but having a different project every month (with other structure, processes and technologies) to install, understand and modify might not be very productive. Also, you cannot do significant improvements. The good part is that you get training/documentation on every project and you can progress fast. - No informal discussions on new technologies (there are not too many informal discussions anyway). No technology conferences, presentations, meetups etc. - You don't see/meet the people you work with.

Pros

Allows to work remotely from anywhere in the world Provides a full-time job, so contractors feel more or less safe with knowledge that they have a permanent position

Cons

Do not care much about contractors and treat them as resources, also your personal issues are not their concern, they just terminate your assignment Can move contractors to other assignments without event asking them Even considering that it is remote freelance job, some managers require you to work at certain hours Once your assignment got terminated there are almost no chances to get another assignment within Crossover
