Pros

Great culture: mid-level associates are encouraged to engage with executives through events, coffee, and lunch. Great talent poll: everyone is very intelligent and is willing to work hard and improve themselves. Choice does a great job with hiring the right people.

Cons

Comp Package: Choice does not offer stock options and annual bonus to any level below non-people managers. That is very unusual for the hospitality industry. Its nearby competitors (Hilton, Marriott, and even management companies) offer an annual merit-based bonus to salaried employees and the option of buying stocks. While the salary might be competitive, the lack of annual bonus drives many talented people to look elsewhere. There are several mid-level associates (sr. analysts, PMs, non-people managers) that are unhappy due to lack of promotional opportunities. It's impossible to get promoted since it's a flat-organization and it is very frustrating after 3 lateral moves.

SkyTouch Review

Pros

I tried reviewing SkyTouch and Glassdoor wrote "SkyTouch was recently acquired by Choice Hotels," and that this review will go under Choice. I don't have an opinion of Choice's CEO, and SkyTouch's CEO just quit last week. The new CEO seems enthusiastic, but it's too soon to tell what kind of leader he will be. Pros: Kind people, company interested in promoting within, above-average benefits, good office location, ping pong table.

Cons

SkyTouch let many employees go in December, and then for months there was radio silence from upper management. Lots of speculation about additional layoffs and Choice shutting us down. The lack of communication and the way the layoffs were handled contributed to people quitting. Priorities shift constantly, and development teams are regularly reorganized, so things get messy and chaotic. The Product team lacks knowledge and energy, working with them can be difficult.
