Pros

Flexible, interesting, exciting industry. Real estate is fascinating and you learn a myriad of skills. Everyone likes to ask about your opinions or recent market trends. For a select few, this is a great industry and profession to work in. But do your homework very thoroughly before making that decision.

Cons

Working as a real estate agent, you are essentially on your own to drum up your own business and figure out best practices. I felt essentially zero training or useful support coming from my local branch and corporate seemed too cumbersome and behind the times. There were some materials available on 21online.com, the corporate support website, but most of what is on there seems to be 15 year old presentations and now-obsolete information. All in all, I felt that I was paying the company a lot of money just for me to have my name under a licensed broker and getting very little benefit in return.

Pros

The training at century 21 is fantastic. Everything you need is very easy to access. The people are very friendly too.

Cons

The only down side I can think of is that the company splits are pretty large. At my office I pay office fees of 17k a yr. Plus 13% of each check to corporate. For a new agent, though, the training is priceless.
