Pros

The biggest one is it’s pretty easy to get into. You don’t need a fancy resume, they’ll train you on the spot, and once you learn the stations it becomes muscle memory. There’s also a weird kind of teamwork rhythm during rushes where everyone just locks in and it actually feels smooth when it’s going well. Free or discounted food is another big one, especially on long shifts. And if you’ve got decent managers, the schedule can be flexible enough for school or second jobs. You also learn a lot of practical stuff fast. Time management, dealing with pressure, not losing your mind when there’s 20 Whoppers and fries lined up and the drive thru won’t stop beeping. That kind of stress tolerance actually carries over into other jobs.

Cons

Now the cons, and I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. The pay is usually just enough to keep you showing up, not enough to feel like you’re getting ahead. Rushes can be brutal. Like, nonstop orders, angry customers, stuff breaking, someone calling in sick, all at the same time. It’s loud, hot, and you’re on your feet the whole shift. Customers can really drain you. Most are fine, but the bad ones stand out and they will test your patience over something like missing pickles. And depending on the location, staffing can be thin, so you end up doing the job of two or three people without much relief.
