Pros

Decent hourly pay, sincere people in management working hard to keep it all together, strive for giving employees 2 days off together, safety and hygiene are top priority.

Cons

Bon Appetit Management Co. prides itself on its commitment to a sustainable food future, and markets its brand as such. But the reality is that enormous amounts of food are wasted daily, most of the supplies come from national supply chains that rely on Big Ag, and people are too busy to even rinse out cans. They are very strict on RULES, and will dock employees for even slight infringements. No music in the kitchen. Not a very relaxed environment.

Pros

Free food, benefits, and fun coworkers.

Cons

Everything, favoritism, and harassment. Once you get injured, they start treating you like trash. If you don't know your rights, the management is going to take advantage of you. They only promote the people they like. To get promoted, you must do extra work. The chefs and supervisors do not give you a chance to gain experience unless you're their favorite. I did not realize I was getting harassed by the supervisor and chef until my attorney told me. The supervisor and chef were intimidating me for trying to go home early while in pain because it's against their policy. My attorney said I have the right to leave and I always had a doctor's note. Human Resources is not on your side either. They only listen and believe the supervisors story. If you get injured on the job, don't hesitate to get an attorney. It's awful this place intimidates their employees with their job. Once I got my doctor's note for modified duty, the supervisor was rushing and asking me how long I would be on modified duty. Obviously when I'm better! I never felt so happy to sign resignation papers from my attorneys office! I will never come back to this place! Horrible experience and I hope no one goes through what I went through! Funniest quote I heard from one chef, "If you guys are in pain, please let us know before it gets worse" I've said I was in pain many times and I get the cold shoulder. I noticed they don't like it when you call them out or stand up for yourself.

Pros

No corporate cookbooks - you will cook from scratch and be innovative and creative in your menu planning. No microwaving frozen meals. Healthy, organic, locally sourced, natural cooking with fresh ingredients. Clean, safe work environment. Great work/life balance - compared to a "regular" restaurant job. Hard work gets attention of management, which leads to promotions! Great benefits for self, partners, and families.

Cons

You need to be a team player and focused on the job at all times. A poor work ethic is not rewarded. Some days can be long.
