Pros
Great vacation time and PTO Great discounts and vendor deals
Cons
Boy oh boy where do I start. The only good thing that has come from working here were the friendships that I developed with some of my coworkers. The daily free banana was also nice, thats basically where the positive ends. You see, it is incredibly easy to bond through shared suffering, and boy do the employees suffer. No the work wasn't abusive, or overly difficult, in fact the work was incredibly easy. The plight of the many employees of B&H however, came from the incredibly inept and painfully incompetent management. If you worked here and landed a manager that didn't make you want to blow your brains out on a daily basis, congratulations, you're the 1%. First things first, nepotism. This company is the definition of nepotism. You would hope a company of such scale would pick its management based off of ones accolades and/or business accomplishments, unfortunately that is not the case. If you're buddy-buddy with someone who is already high up in there, congrats you can land yourself a cushy job with great pay without actually having a single brain cell. That is a generous amount however, as I doubt my former director had a single to spare, you see things in this company are run with absolutely no direction, there are no tangible plans ever, and there is no desire for growth anywhere. If you have any aspirations, any dreams, or ambitions, run far and stay away from this place because that is not what they look for here. You will get mundane tasks to fulfill pointless quotas that amount to nothing at the end of the day. New exciting ideas and legitimate complaints from employees both equally fall upon deaf ears, as management truly does not care. They smile and make false promises, hoping you forget from the consistently meager weekly pay check they give you. When it comes to promotion time, there are two things you absolutely don't want to be. 1- A woman. 2- A Person of color. Why do I say this? Google B&H lawsuits, see for yourself. I am a white man, and the blatant sexism that I would see from the higher ups towards my female coworkers was nothing short of appalling. Women are not taken seriously here, I'm sorry I hate to say it but it is simply the truth. This goes the same for people of color here as well, however in a much more passive manner. The company has actually learned from their multiple lawsuits that they can't actually be openly discriminatory to minorities, keyword openly. You can indeed work your way up to a rather generous salary in this company. That is if you're willing to spend 20-30 years of your life here and kiss the rear ends of every manager. If you're good at your job don't expect to be rewarded for it, the priority goes to the guy who is been wasting away at desk for 2 decades and sleeping at it for a minimum of 1 decade. But its ok, they give you free bananas. Oh yeah one more thing, the the place is consistently filthy, not because the cleaning staff doesn't clean, in fact god bless them they do an absolute amazing job picking up after the overgrown toddlers that refuse to put their used toilet paper IN THE TOILET LIKE A NORMAL PERSON. This is the only place in the world that I have ever seen, on a daily basis for YEARS, literal mounds of used toilet paper in just about every stall. Hand washing after the bathroom? Forget it, it doesn't happen, frowned upon it seems. For whatever reason its also completely acceptable for the older men to rinse their beards and hair in the kitchen sink too. If you care for hygiene in the slightest sense, this is not the place to be. Did I mention they give out free bananas?
