Pros

Open plan airport style office, free bar and a bad drinking culture amongst staff who leave pissed on 2 nights a week, plenty of eye candy on view, half decent restaurant but shops around the corner and in near by station have better choice and value. Offer good basic quantity surveying training to young graduates and have a influx of eastern european staff. Cycle rack available.

Cons

Poor management lacking any contemporary skills, HR dangerously outsourced meaning you end up on wrong tax code and benefits are altered, senior management appear to openly take bungs, Does company pay tax in Netherlands or UK as part of Arcadis not known to staff, senior management of very questionable quality, you would be better elsewhere working for a decent UK company avoid the opportunity to join this practice. Second rate IT equipment, server, phones and way of working in this day and age.

Pros

Via acquisitions, there are still very smart and dedicated people that work on exciting projects. The pay/benefits package was good, but it getting worse all the time.

Cons

Very poor staff retention has been a constant issue ever since the Malcolm Pirnie acquisition. Arcadis is falling out of favor with more clients in the United States while its competitors have been experiencing positive organic growth. The singular focus on the billable goals has created a culture of fear instead of the cooperative culture that was present before in Malcolm Pirnie. Management tells its employees that it is like that everywhere, but I can attest that the grass is greener on the other side. That opinion is also shared with my former co-workers that have also left. I tried to make the Arcadis situation work for too long. I have been so much more content with my new position with more potential for growth. I would tell perspective employees only to take a position there if you have to, and keep your resume up to date for the eventual lay-off/reduced hours. Keep you eye out for opportunities in the marketplace.

Pros

Used to have unlimited sick time, but no more.

Cons

If you're not a geologist, you're not important. Support staff is not deemed important enough to treat well. 1% raises you're told you should be extremely happy about while friends of the managers get bonus after bonus.
