Pros

Gold mining companies are the best to start with. The harsh environment enables you to adapt quickly. Should you move on to any other commodity you will find it much easier.

Cons

As a graduate or vacation student you are pretty much left alone in the wilderness to fend for yourself. There isn't a structured mentorship programme. Graduates wait weeks before they move on to other departments, you basically come to work to chill. The programme is not fast paced enough and your intellectual capacity is not challenged.
