Pros

Smart people. Interesting work. If stock is going up you can make a lot of money.

Cons

Agile process used as a tool for micromanagement. Individuals are treated as expendable. Everything is a crisis. Data driven company tracks data on all your activities - code review statistics, ... Very difficult to move up. Engineers have to be oncall and get woken up at all hour of the night and weekends.

Pros

commute is dumb easy. the technology at work is easy, simple.

Cons

Office space is overly crowded and noisy. The office air quality not good. Restroom smells. Every morning, the daily status report meeting is a very bad management practice. Managers like to call engineers for too many meetings, not much time left for really working on technical task. Too many BS mandatory meetings for engineers, feels waste of time.

Pros

Fast growing, Everyone is young, motivated, very smart and eager to solve problems. I have worked with some fabulous people who have freely given their heart and soul to this company. Its a real inspiration to be part of a team with people like that.

Cons

Forget Work-life balance. Engineers are expected to be on call - and believe me you WILL get called at all hours of the night, Christmas Day and more. Managers expect that you get all of your regular work done - regardless of how many hours you were on call. Some Managers have a reputation for being very difficult and unfair. I have Seen managers "set people up to fail" in an effort to get them to seek other employment. Very difficult to get promoted. Compensation was good Most of the original people have left. Culture is changing to the AMZN culture. Rampant Turn over. Very poor support for telecommuting
