Description BayWa's roots are in Bavarian farming, but its interests are branching out. BayWa (pronounced bay-vah) is divided into several business units: agricultural (grain and oil fruit trading, fertilizers, insecticides, feed, seed, fresh fruit production), agricultural equipment (farm machinery, tools), building materials (building components and equipment), renewable energy products and services (wind, solar), and energy (gas stations, heating oil, lubricants, mineral oils). BayWa sold its do-it-yourself (DIY) and garden centers business in 2011. The company was founded as Bavarian Trading Co. in 1923, when it split from the Bavarian Savings & Loan.
