We are a small, focused team that ships fast and cares a lot about doing right by customers.
We're looking for a Business Development Manager who can build relationships, create opportunities, close new business, and develop strategic partnerships.
This is not a role for someone who wants to wait for inbound leads.
You'll be responsible for generating opportunities through outbound outreach, building partnerships that drive growth, running consultative sales conversations, and helping new customers get value quickly after they sign up.
The ideal person is equally comfortable prospecting, pitching, presenting, negotiating, and closing. You're commercially minded, highly organized, and customers trust you because you genuinely understand their problems and know how to help solve them.
What You'll Do
Build Pipeline and Generate New Business
- Proactively identify and engage potential customers through outbound outreach.
- Research target accounts, initiate conversations, and create qualified sales opportunities.
- Own your pipeline and consistently move prospects through the sales process.
- Follow up persistently and professionally to drive opportunities forward.
Develop Strategic Partnerships
- Identify, research, and secure new referral, integration, agency, and technology partners.
- Build relationships with decision-makers and create mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to launch and grow partnership initiatives.
- Own partnership prospecting and partner acquisition efforts.
Run Consultative Sales Conversations
- Conduct discovery calls and product demonstrations.
- Understand customer challenges and recommend solutions that fit their needs.
- Guide prospects through evaluation and purchasing decisions.
- Negotiate and close new business opportunities.
Drive Customer Success and Expansion
- Lead onboarding conversations to ensure customers get started successfully.
- Conduct deliverability reviews and explain findings in practical, easy-to-understand language.
- Maintain relationships with key customers and identify opportunities for expansion.
- Support renewals, upgrades, and account growth where appropriate.
Represent Mailivery
- Serve as a trusted advisor and credible voice of the company.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and pipeline updates.
- Coordinate with technical and support teams to ensure customers receive the help they need.
- Contribute feedback from customers and partners to improve our product and go-to-market efforts.
What We're Looking For
- Excellent spoken English. You are clear, warm, and confident on a video call. This is the heart of the job, so it is the one thing we cannot flex on.
- You can close and you can prospect. You move a conversation toward a decision, you are comfortable asking for the sale, and you are willing to go find new customers and partners rather than wait for them. None of this should ever feel pushy.
- People trust you quickly. Customers feel looked after, not sold to.
- You are organized and dependable. You follow up, you remember details, and you never let a deal, a partner, or a customer fall through the cracks.
- You can learn a technical product and explain it simply. You do not need an email background on day one, but you need to enjoy getting good at something technical.
- You take ownership. A customer's problem is yours to solve.
Bonus:
- Experience selling SaaS products.
- Experience in email deliverability, cold email, email infrastructure, or email marketing.
- Experience building channel, referral, or integration partnerships.
- Experience working with agencies or marketing service providers.
- Familiarity with CRMs, Stripe, customer success platforms, and sales engagement tools.
- Demonstrated history of achieving or exceeding revenue targets.
Compensation
This is a base salary plus commission role with meaningful upside.
Target Compensation
- OTE: $5,000–$7,500/month
- Base: $2,500–$3,500/month
- No earning cap on commissions.
- Commission: a percentage of new clients/partners closed and recurring commission on renewals.
Strong performers should expect to significantly exceed OTE.
