About Distillery
Distillery accelerates innovation through an unyielding approach to nearshore software development. The world’s most innovative technology teams choose Distillery to help accelerate strategic innovation, fill a pressing technology gap, and hit mission-critical deadlines. We support essential applications, mobile apps, websites, and eCommerce platforms by placing senior, strategic technical leaders and deploying fully managed technology teams that work intimately alongside our client’s in-house development teams. At Distiller we’re not here to reinvent nearshore software development, we’re on a mission to perfect it. Distillery is committed to diversity and inclusion. We actively seek to cultivate a workforce that reflects the rich tapestry of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences present in our society. Our recruitment efforts are dedicated to promoting equal opportunities for all candidates, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other dimension of diversity.
About the Position
The Project Manager is the central communication hub. This role is responsible for coordinating daily activity across a 10-person senior engineering team, managing client relationships, and ensuring the project reaches production-readiness. The PM owns the delivery rhythm—sprint planning, demos, retrospectives, and structured reporting—while proactively surfacing risks before they become blockers.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison between Distillery and the client stakeholders, facilitating regular touchpoints and SME access.
- Own the end-to-end project plan, tracking progress across a 34-week, 17-sprint schedule
- Lead Agile/Scrum ceremonies: sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Maintain full transparency via live Jira board updates and bi-weekly sprint demo coordination.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to timeline, integration dependencies, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate cross-team dependencies between backend, mobile/web, QA, DevOps, and data engineering.
- Produce structured status reports for client stakeholders who prefer reporting over direct ceremony participation.
- Manage onboarding of the Automation QA engineer at Sprint 5 and any mid-engagement staffing changes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of project management experience in software development, with at least 2 years in fintech or regulated industries.
- PMP, CSM, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Proven experience managing Agile/Scrum teams of 8–12 engineers.
- Strong familiarity with Jira or equivalent project tracking tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate technical complexity for executive stakeholders.
- Experience managing nearshore or distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver enterprise software on aggressive timelines.
Nice to Have
- Background working with ACH, payments infrastructure, or financial services platforms.
- Experience with multi-integration projects involving third-party APIs and bank-grade security requirements.
