      Why is a man hole cover round?

      A circle is the only shape if turn any way that can not fall into its own shape. Also a reason i came up with is that when you take the cover off you can roll it out of the way easier than carrying it.

      I like those reasons but would like to add that the circle distributes the stress better as well which I think would be the key factor in design on an object that has heavy vehicles driving over it.
