Siemens Interview Question

What software have you used to program PLCs (programmable logic controllers)? I work with system protection and construction and modification of higher voltage equipment (480V-500kV) and this question was more based for their building automation (climate control/fire suppression) group of which my hiring manager was more familiar with. Take away, know your stuff going in. It may benefit you to research specific Siemens applications and have something to talk about.

I have used various ladder logic programs to program or troubleshoot PLCs however my use is infrequent as these systems are used primarily in lower voltage switches and transfer schemes and maybe once or twice every two years will I have to deal with these systems in this aspect. Because of this the programs and equipment is constantly evolving and I can not recall specific software, however Allen Bradly is a more common PLC that I have had to interact with but newer cheaper equipment from Asia is not uncommon to find anymore.
