Welp, an automated email was sent out to sign up for a date/time that was open. After coordinating with my calendar, I scheduled an initial call. Day of the call I get a text, the recruiter said she was running late and would contact me to reschedule. That was 3 weeks ago, so as soon as someone calls me to reschedule I will update this review!
Was contacted for a phone screening which went well and was followed up by another phone interview with the hiring manager. I came on site for the final interview/presentation and did not hear back for weeks when they told me they would get back by the end of the week. After following up and informing them about another offer deadline, I still didn't hear back. My emails were ignored until the manager eventually called and told me they weren't moving forward. Very unprofessional.
I applied online. I interviewed at SpaceX in Nov 2020
Interview
I was extremely disappointed by this experience. The hiring manager reached out for an interview and asked to speak the same day, giving me the impression that the need for the role was urgent.
After a 30 minute intake, the HM told me to expect an update either the next day or the following Monday. It has now been over a week and a half since the interview and the hiring manager has ignored all follow-up correspondence.
Not the kind of candidate experience I would expect from a company with the reputation of SpaceX. I understand all too well that it is uncomfortable to reject a candidate, but leaving them hanging after providing a concrete date for an update is unacceptable.
That being said, I would not want to recruit for a company with this lack of focus on candidate experience, so maybe in the end this was a good thing.
