I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at SpaceX in Oct 2020
Interview
Latent communication and vague or no feedback post-interview from HR. Prepared a detailed, technical presentation only to start over with another position which resulted in another rejection. Process took 5 weeks.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at SpaceX in Jun 2015
Interview
I applied online and received a phone call from HR 2-3 days later to do a initial phone screening. Excellent HR department. When they initially called I was working with a customer so the HR representative kindly rescheduled to a time I was available. The initial screening went well so they set up a second technical phone interview for the following week, again scheduling to fit a time that worked for me. The technical phone interview was someone from the automation department, friendly but the interview did feel rushed and I was often cut off from my response to be asked another question. Questions were fair and basic and the interview was between 20 and 25 minutes (the last five minutes I got to ask the questions). Unfortunately the areas I'm least experienced in is where they needed it the most. HR called me again two days later to tell me it wasn't going to work but encouraged me a reapply if I got some more experience in PLCs. I thought HR was very professional and I really appreciated the return call even though it wasn't the news I was hoping for. So many companies just leave you in the dark if they pursue someone else.
