Referral. I got a recruiter call and had a call with Hiring manager and felt it went really great. But got rejected that he felt my experience was lesser than what they expected.
I applied online. I interviewed at Mastercard (Pune) in Oct 2022
Interview
2 technical interviews, they take forever to respond about the status. I didn't hear back from HR interviews went good. Followed up many times on email but no luck. Be it selected or on hold or reject at least drop 1 email to candidates about feedback.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Mastercard (Vancouver, BC) in Aug 2022
Interview
Recruiter phone screen, a round with two EMs, a final round with a senior dev and the director of Engineering. I was told final round was a culture fit interview but it turned into a technical interview.
This is by far the worst interviw experience I have had in my life. The recruiter and one EM were really nice and professional. In round 1, the technical interview, one EM showed up late then began talking over everyone and essentially derailed the interview. I thought this may be a one off and decided to accept to move to round two.
During round 2 I was continually talked over and badgered (not asked) with questions. I would open my mouth to answer a question and the interviewer would ask the same question again just re-phrased. I also presented a solution to an algorithm that worked and was efficient but was different from what they were looking for and was badgered into changing the solution.
I can't imagine what it must be like to work at this company. I was so excited to even be considered but maybe I'm better off collecting unemployment for a while until I find some place with a less adversarial and combative culture.
