Contacted by the agency then passed to an outsourced recruiter (always a bad sign). First talk with recruiter, pleasant enough to get an idea of skills and readiness for next step. Next step is IQ tests which after you pass you get link to online coding test. Passed IQ, passed coding. Next review of code and interview with two engineers, went well enough. Made improvements to code and talked about testing scenarios. Passed to Hiring manager, a pleasant one hour conversation about behavioral issues and motivation.
EVERYTHING went well and the good news is now we need to go onsite to Sweden. At this point we start discussing relocation package and salary, which was kept on backburner. BIG MISTAKE. I read glassdoor reviews about low ball salary and still wasted my time.
When it was time to go onsite they told me a really low salary and said it will not get better. I asked about relocation and the package was basic, no accommodation or other amenities. The recruiter told me after the onsite I could negotiate but wasn't so optimistic they would move their salary. She then proceeded to tell me I wasn't a senior anyway based on the feedback (FIRST TIME I AM HEARING THIS). Many excuses to justify the low salary.
I had already decided to pretty much be prepared to decline after onsite but go for the experience when the contacted me back and told me they wouldn't go forward. Their reasoning , i wasn't senior enough they couldn't pay me more, they would have it train me too much as i lacked skill and finally it would be too expensive to relocate my family.
All in all VERY Negative experience.
Maybe if you are already in Berlin, maybe if you are single and just want adventure. Maybe if you dont mind being told you are not good enough. Don't waste hours and weeks interviewing here. it is not worth it.
