How would you improve Facebook Group

First, I would ask two questions to get a better understanding of the product's *vision*: 1. what is fb’s mission? let's assume its to connect and create communities 2. what is fb groups mission? lets assume its to allow small communities to engage through various types of connections Second, I would try to understand who are the stakeholders for groups and what is their goal and frustrations? Lets start by listing these. * FB business (as a stackholder) goals - we will set these later (what is groups success- for example: increase engagement by 10%) * Groups admins - frustrated? probably feel like they are doing it all, and getting nothing back. I would try to have 2 goals set for them- 1- increase value generated to group admin 2- make managing a group easier * Group contributors (Businesses using groups to promote or people using the group to promote themselves or other)- these are the people who drive the group forward in terms of value. a goal we can set to these stakeholders- make it easier for them to contribute to the group, another goal can be- help them get value from their contribution. * Group members- lets assume their main problem is having too many groups to handle and that with too much information they are having a very hard time managing their time and generating great value from these groups I would also set a research question to get a better understanding on how do people interact with groups- what is the facebook groups goal in their life. I would ask the BI team to understand better patterns around group usage, i.e: can we categorise groups by: size, locations, goals, demographic, content type, events etc. Third I would set goals for success, for groups I would set a mission that the groups on facebook become a contributing community, and set a KPI that increases groups engagement by 10%. now, we would need to define engagement- groups engagements would be define with the analytics and BI team, but lets assume it can be measured by: * frequency of use- how many people are coming using (reading posts, commenting and interacting with the group) * repeat use- how many times are they doing it a day, week, month Lastly, before I move to improving groups, I would want to set the goal based on FB groups mission- lets assume success will be defined by increasing groups engagement by 10% and increasing groups admins satisfaction by 10% (we would define a research question to understand: how do you find fb helpful in managing your community) Now, based on the above, I would set the feature improvement as following: * FB Groups improvement- like a business page, categorise set a goal and type to a group * Fb improvements- set goal of group, estimate group size and mission to adjust fb algorithm accordingly (for example: if goal is set on managing events, put events components forward) * FB business- add the ability to advertise to a specific group, rev. share with admin * Admin improvement- based on the category, we would change the component of a group and the menu we would like to also allow the admin to get value from being an admin- a payment by facebook value would be considered, a subscription model would also be considered we would like to also incentivise the admin to invite others to manage the group with him * Members- a better presentation of the content by type, improve notifications system from groups to member, easier groups management, offer to have a presentation of all groups in a new different and improve feed to your groups content, easier way to search content within a group
