Almost every retailer will ask you this and they're all looking for the same answer, open ended questions. Instead of saying "Can I help you with anything?" You would approach the customer and say "I looove those jeans you're viewing. What size are you looking for!" This way you've asked a question that they can't answer 'yes or no' to. Trust me, mention open ended questions and you'll instantly get brownie points.
