I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Argos (Briston, England) in Sep 2016
Interview
Around 35 people turned up for the 'interview' at Argos Cribs Causeway which lasted 2 hours which is absolutely ridiculous, since parents are waiting outside etc and we didn't get told how long it would last. Not enough seats for everyone to sit down. Firstly we were split off into 2 groups - split into 2 rooms. Then spent 5 minutes getting to know the people next to us and then telling the staff stuff about the people we spoke to (don't understand the point of this). Then split up into groups of 8 and did an activity where we had to choose 8 items to take to a desert island we all had to live on, which took around half an hour. We then split into groups of 4 and we imagined we had £500 to spend in Argos for our favourite room in an apartment we had just moved into, what would we buy, and we got given catalogues which probably took another half an hour to an hour. We handed in passports and legal documents etc near the beginning for them to photocopy?! Then there was another activity which we didn't have time to do which included building things out of kids' building blocks. And they said in the beginning there would be a 1-1 interview answering questions at the end however we all sat in the room and wrote our answers to the questions ourselves. Then another 15 minutes of people asking the staff questions about info the staff hasn't told us (salary, working times, when we hear from them etc). My mum asked how long it would take in the middle of me answering the questions on the paper and the woman said 5 but she waited 15 more minutes. Overall absolutely ridiculous how they think they can interview that many people and the whole thing lasted 2 hours which was an absolute waste of time doing activities that don't really help anyone or their application.
A few basic questions about what you’re like, what you’re good at, what you can offer etc etc etc
Thought it was relaxed and okay, friendly store manager was interviewer
You had to do an online assessment with your application with some scenario questions and then questions that are personality tailored. Then offered a 1 to 1 interview supposed to last 30 minutes

Question 1
Tell us about a time you've had to deal with an unhappy customer ?
Casual conversation talking about experiences, skills etc. What the role was about and responsibilities it carries. Asked my availability and flexibility. Make sure you have questions to ask the interviewer asking about key aspects of the role.
